Litigation Associate

Robinson+Cole, an AmLaw 200 firm, seeks an associate with at least three years of complex litigation experience to join its Litigation Section in its Hartford, CT; Stamford, CT; New York, NY; or Miami, FL office. 

Robinson+Cole has one of the leading insurance practices in the United States, focusing primarily in insurance coverage litigation for property casualty and life, health, and disability insurers.  The firm is also one of the few firms in the Northeast and Florida with a specific team of lawyers and nonlawyer professionals who focus on advising and defending employers, plans, and insurers in connection with claims for employee welfare benefits. 

We are looking for a candidate with superior academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical skills, and large-firm or equivalent experience to join our team.  The successful candidate will be expected to assume substantial responsibility, including drafting of briefs on critical motions, management of discovery, depositions and court appearances.  For the right candidate, this position may be situated in Hartford, Stamford, New York or Miami.  Admission to the bar for the State where the Associate sits is required.  Law review experience and/or judicial clerkship experience are a plus.  Insurance coverage litigation experience or ERISA experience preferred but not required.

Conflicts Attorney - Hartford, CT

Robinson+Cole’s Information Governance & Conflicts team seeks a Conflicts Attorney to join its Hartford office. As a Conflicts Attorney, you will conduct conflict of interest research, interpret and evaluate conflicts reports, conduct conflict clearances for incoming new business and lateral hire, draft waivers and review engagement terms and outside counsel guideline, and work collaboratively with the firm’s General Counsel and Loss Prevention Partners.
Qualified candidates will have a Juris Doctor degree, at least three years of legal experience, knowledge of the rules of professional liability, and be an active member in good standing of a state bar where the firm has an office. In addition, qualified candidates must have excellent verbal, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data is a must. Handling multiple priorities and adjusting to shifting deadlines are common for this position. Prior conflicts clearance experience at a large firm and database research experience is highly preferred. Experience with Intapp, Capital IQ, and Lexis Nexis is a plus.

Tax Attorney

Robinson+Cole’s Tax Practice Group seeks an experienced attorney to join its Hartford, New York, Stamford, Providence or Boston offices.  Qualified candidates will have six or more years of experience advising companies and organizations on federal tax matters.  Experience representing clients in connection with federal tax issues related to a wide range of transactions, industries, types of taxpayers, and structure is required.  Experience on a broad range of domestic and international tax matters is preferred. An LL.M. in Taxation and large-firm or equivalent experience is a plus.

Our Tax Group helps clients understand and navigate the federal, state, and local tax consequences of their business transactions, including cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, financing and securities transactions, spin-offs and buyouts, purchases and sales of real estate and other property, restructurings in and out of bankruptcy, and capital market transactions.

We also represent clients in efforts to change state and local tax laws, in the tax planning and representation of various transactions, and in connection with federal and state tax controversies, administrative appeals, and court appeals in both civil and criminal tax cases.
