Christie D. Jean


  • Overview


    Christie Jean assists governmental entities with a range of financial transactions and advises business clients on corporate matters. She is a member of the firm’s Public Finance Group.

    Public Finance

    Christie represents state and municipal governments in the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable bonds, notes, and other debt obligations. Her clients include various Connecticut municipalities and state authorities issuing debt obligations, and she recently represented an institution of higher learning in connection with its refinancing of over $160 million in debt.

    Christie has served as counsel for issuers, borrowers, and underwriters in structuring and documenting revenue bond issues for various projects, such as colleges, universities, affordable housing, hospitals, and assisted living and continuing care facilities. She also has experience in real estate transactional matters relating to the financial services industry.

    General Corporate Services

    Christie advises clients on general corporate matters, such as matters of governance and contracting issues.

    Pro Bono

    Christie is committed to the representation of pro bono clients and has dedicated a substantial portion of her practice to pro bono work. She has assisted local land trusts in obtaining tax-exemption status and in connection with a land use appeal, represented a state environmental justice organization, and currently assists a 501(c)(3) charity in connection with commercial real estate, including matters of leasing, sales, and acquisitions, on a pro bono basis.

    Prior to joining the firm, Christie interned with several Connecticut law firms. During law school, she represented indigent criminal defendants as part of the University of Connecticut School of Law's Criminal Trial Clinic, taught constitutional law at New Britain High School, and interned for a senator in the Connecticut General Assembly.

      • Represents the state of Connecticut as series counsel on its general obligation bond program.

      • Represents numerous housing authorities in financings for multifamily housing revenue bond projects throughout Connecticut, and in New York and Rhode Island.

      • Assisted the State of Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) with a direct bank purchase which refunded two prior series of bonds, Series K and Series L, which financed multiple hospital projects located at the Danbury Hospital campus.
