Steven Sutro litigates benefit claims brought pursuant to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and regularly defends claims brought against plan fiduciaries and insurers. He is a member of the firm's Managed Care + Employee Benefit Litigation and Life, Health and Disability Litigation Groups.
Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Steven was an associate in the Labor & Employment Department of an international law firm where he focused on ERISA litigation. Upon graduating from law school, Steven served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Labor and Employment Law Division of the New York City Law Department. While there, he defended the City of New York, its agencies and officials in federal and state court against claims of employment discrimination. While in law school, Steven served as a student clerk for the Honorable Nicholas G. Garaufis, U.S.D.J. in the Eastern District of New York. He also completed internships with the New York State Office of the Attorney General and the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York.
