Government Relations + Lobbying

In the world of politics and government, experience is key but being there is everything. Robinson+Cole has a team of lobbyists with decades of experience, who are everywhere government is when our clients need them to be there.

There's an adage that says "if you know one state, you know one state." We know two: New York and Connecticut, and whether you face similar or different issues in each of them, there's a real benefit to knowing you have capable advocacy, on the ground in both state capitols ready to help you develop and implement the strategy you need to succeed.

Our strength is in our people, a team composed of highly skilled professionals who work to do the following:

  • cover all the issues
  • excel at strategic thinking
  • consistently achieve results for our clients, helping them get from point A to point B efficiently

While we welcome and are proud of our record of handling many big, tough issues for our clients, decades of experience has taught us that it's the little things that pay the biggest dividends for our clients. The depth of our team, coupled with their knowledge of the people and processes involved in the creation of legislation, and a constant presence in the halls government, positions us to be effective advocates for our clients on a daily basis.

We are practical, issue-based advocates with deep relationships developed from working with people over a long period of time on a variety of issues. We explain government and politics, and what drives policy, to our clients, and we learn from them about their business and their goals. Then, we explain them to government officials so they understand where the goals of governmental policy and business align. We strive to build trust so that, when the big issues do arise, it's the trust that helps us through the negotiations to mitigate the damage a client might suffer so we can achieve the best possible outcome given the political climate.

Our services encompass all aspects of administrative and legislative lobbying, issue and crisis management, press and public relations, and grass roots organizing. Time after time, clients have found that Robinson+Cole's lobbyists help them achieve their objectives, whether the passage, defeat, or modification of legislation or regulations; financial assistance for a development project; or state or local government procurement of client products and services. We have successfully lobbied on a variety of issues including insurance, economic development, tax, labor, health care, public utility, environment, banking, finance, transportation, and gaming.

We're not your father's lobbying firm—changes to campaign finance laws have diminished the influence of money. The representation needed today is the kind we provide: people who know you, people who develop issue-based strategies with you, and people who engage in conversations that result in positive outcomes for you.
